Maestro 2 - Beethoven's Eroiga Symphony

Cédric Tiberghien

Cédric Tiberghien, one of the most exciting French pianists on the international circuit, is thrilling in the scintillating and witty outer movements of Ravel’s G major Piano Concerto, a work which echoes the spirit of the jazz age in the Paris of the 1920s.

Ravel’s sublime middle movement is a magical reverie and has justly earned the reputation as one of the most beautiful slow movements in the repertoire. The original dedicatee of Beethoven’s epic Eroica Symphony was Napoleon Bonaparte, who “liberated” Europe, but the real hero is, of course, Beethoven himself, who released the symphony from its eighteenth century conventions with this powerful, majestic and radical work which dramatically changed Piers Lane the course of symphonic music forever.
