'... a beautiful work from a burgeoning writer that shines a pure light onto war.'

Meet Rose Maloney. Her dad Danny went to Vietnam. Her grandfather Brian is ex-IRA.
Today is their collective birthday, and Rose and Danny have travelled from regional Western Australia to Nottingham, England, to celebrate. And just maybe they'll find out some of the missing bits of the family story.
From this intimate reunion, The Seed opens itself up over and over again until a silent family battle becomes an international story about finding new life amongst the rubble of old wars. The play also lifts the lid on the murky legacy of Agent Orange use in the Vietnam War and its effects on the children of veterans.
Hovering behind the exhilarating broil, pain and humour of the action is an image of peace and of beginning again in a new land: father and daughter fishing in a tiny boat on the wide sea off the coast of Western Australia.
