Queensland Premier's Drama Award play readings - Dangerfield Park

The Queensland Premier’s Drama Award provides a unique opportunity for the professional development of aspiring Queensland playwrights as the only playwriting competition in the country that guarantees a fully-staged production of the winning play by a professional theatre company.

As one of the three finalists, Sven Swenson's Dangerfield Park will be produced as a moved play reading. The other finalists are Richard Jordan's 25 Down and Katherine Lyall-Watson's Tinder.

Dangerfield Park by Sven Swenson

Dangerfield Park is a play that examines the complexity of modern-day relationships. Perry Broadfoot and his partner Marc D’allesandro are picking up the pieces after losing their home to a fire but remain determined to push ahead with the commitment ceremony they’ve scheduled later in the year. Otis Bremmer has agreed to be their man-of-honour even though it throws his own failure at enduring relationships in his face. Self-confessed loner, Sholto McCrae has met gorgeous, available Tim Kellerman and is trying desperately not to fall in love. Reyer Standish is negotiating his way through uni. In the early morning darkness of Dangerfield Park, one of these men is left for dead and none of their lives will ever be the same.
