Adrian Dwyer played Count Almaviva in Opera Queensland's production of The Barber of Seville.

Adrian was born in Melbourne. He is a graduate of the Guildhall School of Music & Drama and the National Opera Studio (both in London), where he was supported by the Australian Music Foundation and the Friends of Covent Garden.

Adrian made his European debut at the Opéra Comique (in Paris) as Bénédict in Béatrice et Bénédict. Other performances include the roles of Francesco in Benvenuto Cellini (with Orchestre de Paris for the Berlioz Centenary) and Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni (for the Belle-Ile Opera Festival in France). He made his US debut as Rodolfo in Baz Luhrmann's La bohème (at the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles), for which he received a Los Angeles Stage Alliance Ovation Award (for Outstanding Performance). This role has featured prominently in Adrian’s career, with recent engagements including Francesca Zambello’s production (at Royal Albert Hall) and for Cape Town Opera (in South Africa).

His engagements in the UK include Robert Dudley in Maria Stuarda and Tamino in Die Zauberflöte (for Grange Park Opera), Vakula in Cherevichki (for Garsington Opera), Count Almaviva in Il barbiere di Siviglia (at the Buxton Festival), Lensky in Eugene Onegin (in Aldeburgh), Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni (for Opera Holland Park), Macduff in Macbeth (for Scottish Opera Go Round), Simon Perez in Koanga (for Sadler’s Wells), Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor (for Iford Festival Opera) and Jenik in The Bartered Bride (for MidWales Opera).

In Australia, Adrian performed the role of Ismaele in Nabucco (for State Opera of South Australia).

On the concert platform, Adrian has appeared with The Royal Scottish National Orchestra (at the Edinburgh International Festival), Philharmonia Orchestra, English Chamber Orchestra, The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestre de Paris, Orchestre Léonard da Vinci and the R.T.E. Symphony Orchestra. He has worked with many of the world’s leading conductors, such as Christoph Eschenbach, Richard Bonynge, Sir David Willcocks, Nicholas Braithwaite, David Stern, David Parry, Marc Soustrot, Paul Daniel and José Cura.

Upcoming engagements include the roles of Count Almaviva in Il barbiere di Siviglia (for Scottish Opera), Arthur Bucklaw in Lucia di Lammermoor (for English National Opera), appearing as Steuermann in Der fliegende Holländer (with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra) and performing Carmina Burana (at Royal Albert Hall).
