After studying drama at the Queensland University of Technology, David completed a Bachelor of Music Theatre at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts in 2002.

Most recently David has been touring Asia with the international cast of The Phantom of the Opera, in which he understudied and performed the role of Raoul.

David also understudied Mendel in the Australian tour of Fiddler on the Roof with Topol. Other credits include On Our Selection with Jill Perryman for the Black Swan Theatre Company in Perth, South Pacific at Sydney’s Theatre Royal and I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change! David made his screen debut as Paul in the multi award-winning AFTRS short film The Saviour, which was nominated for an Oscar in 2007.

David's dad is chairman of the Brisbane Broncos.

Favourite Phantom song: the title song – “The Phantom of the Opera”. It’s a fantastic scene with the boat and candles, and one of the most memorable.

Brisbane audiences are: great at showing their appreciation with standing ovations.

Pre-performance anxiety – how I quell it: warm-up, breathe and a good chat with other performers.

Best place in Brisbane for a coffee…a picnic…a glass of vino with a view: West End, South Bank and Eagle Street Pier.

If I wasn’t acting/singing/dancing I’d be: teaching. It’s something I’m still hoping to do in the future.

Morning or night person? Night – we don’t finish work until 10.30pm so a sleep-in is in order.

Most embarrassing on-stage moment: (in a different show) – I once had food poisoning and had to run off in order to be sick. Stage Management had to find a bucket quickly.
