Elvira Fatykhova played Rosina in Opera Queensland's production of The Barber of Seville.

Elvira was born in Ufa, in the province of Bashkiria, Russia. She studied singing at the Ufa Vocational College of Arts (1988) and the Ufa State Institute of Arts (1992). In 1995, she was awarded a special prize at the Glinka Singing Competition and in 1996, the Grand Prix at the Almuhametov Singing Competition (in Ufa). In 2002, she was a finalist in Competizione dell’Opera (in Dresden).

After completing her studies in 1997, Elvira joined the Bashkirian State Opera House as a principal artist. In 1999, the company was invited to the Aspendos International Opera and Ballet Festival in Turkey, where she sang the role of Gilda in Rigoletto. In the same year, she joined the Ankara State Opera and Ballet Company (in Turkey) where she is currently a principal artist. Her operatic repertoire includes the roles of Violetta in La traviata, Rosina in The Barber of Seville, Norina in Don Pasquale, Marfa in The Tsar’s Bride, Konstanze in The Abduction from the Seraglio and the title role in Lucia di Lammermoor.

Elvira made her Australian debut in 2002, when she was invited by conductor Ola Rudner to perform Violetta in La traviata (with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra). She returned to Tasmania the following year, to again perform with the orchestra at their annual Opera Gala. In 2004, she made her debut with Opera Australia in the title role of Manon. In 2005, she performed the role of Violetta in La traviata (for NBR New Zealand Opera and for West Australian Opera), and in 2006, made her Opera Queensland debut in the title role of Lucia di Lammermoor. Other international engagements include Violetta in La traviata and the title role in Lucia di Lammermoor (for Split Opera House in Croatia) and Gilda in Rigoletto (in Portugal).

On the concert platform, Elvira has performed with the Presidential Symphony Orchestra (in Turkey), appeared as the soprano soloist in Carmina Burana (in Turkey), performed Mozart’s Requiem with the Haydn Symphony Orchestra (in Italy) and appeared in New Year’s Eve concerts with the Haydn Symphony and Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestras.

Elvira’s engagements in 2007 included the title role in a new Lindy Hume production of Lucia di Lammermoor (for NBR New Zealand Opera), Violetta in La traviata (for Opera Australia) and Gilda in Rigoletto (for West Australian Opera).

In 2008 Elvira appeared in Opera Queensland's production of The Barber of Seville.
