Brisbane Powerhouse present contemporary performance trio, Post in Shamelessly Glitzy Work from Wednesday 24 June to Saturday 27 June 2009. Post's performance explores how influential leaders, entertainers, and professionals can benefit from illusion, magic, and lies.

Shamelessly Glitzy Work is a unique blend of black humour, glitz, glamour, and politics that will have you glued to your seat.

What do the worlds of magic, media, politics, and illusion spectacles have in common? Why did Britney Spears' stageshow designers end up working for Barack Obama? Post shows that politics and entertainment aren't that far apart from the world of smoke and mirrors.

Shamelessly Glitzy Work is about lies and illusion, manipulation, and the sheer power that comes with working a crowd. The performance delves into the construction of image in the political arena.

A storage hangar in Qatar was converted into a state-of-the-art television studio and press room when US troops first moved into Iraq in 2003. It was decked out with gadgets for creating graphics, maps, and images to feed back from the front line to the media at home. The designer of the centre was David Blaine, a magician and illusionist.

Shamelessly Glitzy Work explores the tricks of the trade in winning people over, drawing from magic and illusion, rave culture, mass euphoria, and professional dating maestros who claim they can seduce any woman using an intricate set of rules, codes, and strategic costume choices.

The story has many beginnings, not as many conclusions, and a little bit of honesty. You'll see levitating bodies, wet t-shirt competitions, bleeding heads, and spectacular light shows delivered with the intense energy and confidence of a performance group who peel back the layers of glamour to reveal the ugly truths beneath.

Post is thriving in the Sydney arts circuit. The trio have enjoyed critical acclaim at the Next Wave Festival, Melbourne Fringe Festival, Adelaide Fringe Festival, and Brisbane Festival.

Members Natalie Rose, Mish Grigor, and Zoe Coombs Mar began working together in 2003 as the imPACT ensemble at the Pact Youth Theatre. Their works have included Idle Hands Wake up with Fleas, Swimming Home in Heels, and Gifted and Talented.

Post have a residency at Performance Space and are supported byAustralia Council.
