Camille O'Sullivan performs at the Powerhouse Sunday 26 October 2008
Sexy, funny and dangerously talented - and back at Brisbane Powerhouse by popular demand - is cabaret kitten Camille O'Sullivan, who brings her award-winning new show, The Dark Angel (Spirit of Edinburgh Festival Award 2007), to the Powerhouse Theatre on Sunday 26 October, 2008.
Brisbanites fell head over heels in love with the French-Irish chanteuse back in February of this year, devouring tickets to the smash hit La Fille du Cirque, a show which left audiences around the country clamouring for more.
Never one to disappoint, Camille's new show is edgier and sexier than ever, as she performs the dark and light songs of Nick Cave, Jacques Brel, Tom Waits, David Bowie and more, transforming into different characters as she performs each song - passionate, amusing and always mesmerising.
Not to be confused with the French 'Camille', this luscious lass was born in London of a French mother and Irish father and started her career as a successful painter and architect, winning the prestigious Architectural Association of Ireland Award in 2000 and exhibiting at the Royal Hibernian Academy.
Her love of singing and performing soon took over and, as a star of the internationally renowned La Clique (2004), Camille caught the eye of Ewan Bremner (Spud in Trainspotting) and was invited to feature opposite Dame Judi Dench, Bob Hoskins and Will Young in Stephen Frears' Oscar-nominated film Mrs Henderson Presents.
Her star has continued to rise with sell out success at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2007, Sydney Opera House, the Melbourne International Festival and during UK and New York tours; with consistent five-star reviews and awards (Best Music 2005 and Star of the Festival 2006 at the Brighton Festival, Best Cabaret Artiste Green Room Theatre Awards Australia 2005, Best Show Dublin Fringe Awards 2007).
Versatile and unpredictable, with an innate love of storytelling, Camille performs in English, French and German, mixing lost songs of old with the contemporary... Nothing is quite what it seems.
Camille O'Sullivan - The Dark Angel will weave her hypnotic spell, with two shows over one magic night on Sunday 26 October 2008 in the Powerhouse Theatre.
