For safety reasons, a number of streets and bridges are closed before, during and after Riverfire. Don't get stranded - make sure you know what places are closed to both cars and pedestrians.
We recommend taking public transport.
Adelaide Street - Closed between George and North Quay to southbound traffic 4pm to 11pm (BCC buses accepted).
Ann Street - Ann Street slip lane to Story Bridge closed between 6.30pm and 8pm.
Brisbane River - The Brisbane River will be closed between Mowbray Park, East Brisbane and Cribb Street, Milton from 5pm until 8.45pm to all traffic other than enforcement agencies vessels.
Colchester Street - Closed between Ernest and Vulture Streets between 6am and 10pm.
Cultural Centre Tunnel - closed between Melbourne Street and the QPAC car park entrance between 4 pm and 11pm.
Dock Street - No right turn from Stanley Street into Dock Street and no right turn from Dock Street into Vulture Street between 12 noon and 9.30pm.
Ellis Street - Ellis Street remains open for a right turn only into Leopard Street between 4pm and 9.30pm.
Gipps Street - No access to Story Bridge all traffic must turn right to Ann Street between 6.30pm and 8pm.
Goodwill Bridge - Closed to pedestrians 3.30pm to 8pm. No pedestrian or cyclist access to Goodwill Bridge 3.30pm to 8pm.
Grey Street - Closed to all traffic between Vulture and Tribune Streets from 4pm to 9.30pm; closed to all through traffic between Melbourne and Tribune Streets between 7.15pm and 9.30pm; closed to southbound traffic between Peel and Melbourne Streets from 4pm to 9.30pm (BCC buses accepted); right turn slip lane from Grey Street into Melbourne Street closed between 4pm and 11pm.
Hope Street - Hope Street closed at intersection of Fish Lane between 4pm and 11pm (BCC buses excepted).
Ivory and Boundary Street - No access to Story Bridge between 6.30pm and 8pm.
Ivory and Brunswick Street - No access to Story Bridge between 6.30pm and 8pm.
Little Stanley Street - Closed between Glenelg (South Bank Car Park entrance) and Tribune Streets between midnight on Thursday 28 August until 3pm on Sunday 31 August.
Local streets linking River Terrace to Main Street - Local streets linking River Terrace to Main Street closed 4pm to 9.30pm access for residents only. No parking permitted all day on the southern side of Paton, Walmsley and Lockerbie Streets.
Mark Lane - Left turn only allowed from Mark Lane into Leopard Street between 4pm and 9.30pm.
Martin and Brunswick Street - No access to Story Bridge between 6.30pm and 8pm.
Melbourne Street - Closed between Merivale and Victoria Bridge between 4pm and 11pm.
Mt Gravatt Lookout - For safety reasons the Mt Gravatt Lookout closes to all traffic at Shire Road and Gosford Street between 4pm and 8pm.
North Quay - Closed between Ann and Queen Streets between 4pm and 11pm. Buses only can continue as usual along North Quay diverting into Adelaide Street 7.30pm to 8.30pm.
Pedestrian stairs at the Lookout - Pedestrian stairs linking Lower River Terrace and River Terrace at the Lookout closed 7pm to 7.30pm.
Pedestrian stairs at South Brisbane TAFE - Pedestrian stairs linking Lower River Terrace and River Terrace at South Brisbane TAFE Kangaroo Point Campus closed 7pm to 7.30pm.
Queens Wharf Road - Closed between William Street and the turnaround behind the Commissariat Stores from 4pm to 11pm.
Riverfront Boardwalk - Closed between Boundary Street to Macrossan Street between the Story Bridge and Customs House at Admiralty Quays. Pedestrians can access the Riverfront Boardwalk at all other usual access points.
River Terrace and Leopard Street - River Terrace at Main Street and Leopard Street at Vulture Street closed 4pm to 9.30pm. No parking permitted all day on both sides of River Terrace.
Riverwalk - The Riverwalk, between Boundary Street (City) and Merthyr Road (New Farm), will close in the interests of safety from 6pm until 8pm.
Service Road below the Kangaroo Point Cliffs - Service Road below the Kangaroo Point Cliffs at Captain Cook Bridge closed all day.
Stanley Place left into Grey Street - No left turn from Stanley Place (GoMA) into Grey Street 4pm – 9.30pm (BCC buses excepted).
Story Bridge - Closed to all traffic from approximately 6.30pm to 8pm. All northbound traffic travelling inbound along Main Street will be U turned at the intersection of Main Street and the Bradfield Highway (which is the south side closure point for the Story Bridge). All northbound traffic travelling inbound along Shafston Avenue will be reduced to one lane and detoured left into Main Street and proceed south along Main Street and turn right into Stanley Street for access to the Northern Suburbs via the Captain Cook Bridge. Also, two City bound traffic lanes close on Friday 29 August between 2am and 6am and Sunday 31 August between 6am and 9am for the transfer of fireworks to and from the bridge superstructure.
Story Bridge Footpath - Western footpath (City side) closed to pedestrians from 1.30pm to 8.30pm and Eastern footpath (Dockside side) closed to pedestrians from 6.30pm to 8pm. No pedestrian access to Story Bridge between 6.30pm until approximately 8pm.
Tribune Street - Closed between Colchester and Grey Street between 7.15pm and 9.30pm.
Victoria Bridge Footpath - Western footpath (Museum side) closed to pedestrians approximately 6.30pm to 10.30pm. During these times pedestrian traffic will only have access to the eastern footpath and general traffic lanes on Victoria Bridge. Eastern footpath (South Bank side) remains open at all times.
Victoria Bridge Traffic Lanes - Traffic lanes closed 4pm to 11pm. The Victoria Bridge traffic lanes will become available to pedestrians between 5pm and 9.30pm.
Vulture Street - No left turn from Vulture Street into Grey Street (outbound) between 4pm and 9.30pm. No left turn from Vulture Street into Leopard Street between 4pm and 9.30pm. No right turn from Vulture Street into Grey Street (inbound) between 4pm and 9.30pm. Vulture Street closed to eastbound traffic at the intersection of Gladstone Road between 7.15pm and 9.30pm.
William Street - Both riverside lanes between Elizabeth and Queen Streets closed 4pm to 11pm (BCC buses accepted until 6.30pm). William Street closed to all traffic between Queen and Elizabeth Streets 6.30pm to 8.30pm.
