South Bank

South Bank is a popular place for families to watch QBE Riverfire and for public safety the venue will be fenced and closed when it reaches capacity. You cannot take glass or alcohol with you, so patrons booking into South Bank's BYO restaurants should confirm arrangements for the delivery of alcohol with the restaurants. No dogs are allowed on this occasion. Disabled access is available.

Kangaroo Point Cliffs

The cliffs afford a great view of fireworks at South Bank as well as the Story Bridge - from both the park at the top and the riverside below. Food and beverages will be available along Lower River and River Terrace, Kangaroo Park.

City Botanic Gardens

Fireworks will be all around you in the Botanic Gardens. Bring a blanket! Disabled access is available.

Riverside Centre

A spot at the Riverside Centre will get you up close to the curtain of fireworks from the Story Bridge, as well as those launched from the nearby river barge. Food and beverages are available from nearby establishments. Disabled access is available.

Eagle Street Pier

Offers close proximity to the fireworks barge in front of Kangaroo Point. Food and beverages are available from nearby establishments. Disabled access is available.

Captain Burke Park

Watch the shower of light from the Story Bridge from right underneath, as well as the spectacular fireworks from barges and rooftops. Food and beverages will be available in Captain Burke Park. Disabled access is available.

Wilson's Outlook

A popular, elevated vantage point for seeing the fireworks from the Story Bridge right through to South Bank beyond. Food and beverages will be available at Wilson's Outlook, and there are many restaurants and cafés in the area.

Other things to note

As RegattaFest will not be held in 2008, the fireworks footprint will not include Toowong this year.

Please note that the Riverfront Boardwalk will be closed between Boundary Street to Macrossan Street between the Story Bridge and Customs House at Admiralty Quays. This closure is effective immediately. Pedestrians can access the Riverfront Boardwalk at all other usual access points.

For safety, the Brisbane River will be closed between Mowbray Park, East Brisbane and Cribb Street, Milton between 5pm and 8.45pm. Only operators of private vessels who have an Entry Permit Flag to the dedicated Spectator Mooring Zones will be permitted into the closed areas.

Hi,
Am wondering if anyone has any suggestions for Accomodation with a good view of the Fireworks in the SouthBank/Storey Bridge areas pref. with a balcony to book for the 2009 Fireworks. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Megsnjustin

There's quite a bit of accommodation in the South Bank and Story Bridge areas that would provide you with a good view of the fireworks.

South Bank has Rydges Hotel and I know there are hotels such as the Marriott and the Medina really close to the Story Bridge.

You can probably search the accommodation guide on ourbrisbane.com or check out some maps to find suitable spots!
