Keep an eye on the medal tally on the ABC paralympic news site - it’s there you’ll find breaking stories of who won what plus some of the inspirational stories behind all of the Paralympians’ achievements.

In the Athens 2004 Paralympics, Australia came second in the total medal tally, behind China. This time, can we beat our amazing collection of 101 medals from 2004?

To see the televised action, tune into ABC2 if you have digital tv. If not, there will be highlights on ABC1. Check the television guide for details.

Send the athletes a hero message, via Telstra (please note that this facility works best in Internet Explorer).

Keep up to date with more Paralympics news on the official website from the Australian Paralympic Committee.

One part of the Paralympics which is interesting is the subject of categorisation. Athletes have varying disabilities and physical handicaps and each need to be classified into their appropriate group for competition. Brisbane’s Dr Sean Tweedy works at University of Queensland and is now in Beijing classifying the athletes. Read more about his story.
